THE MAXIMACE TEAM
Sebastian Velarde
Co-founder • Developer • Composer
Sebastian is responsible for Yabaseo's story, music, and core game design. Though only being born in the 2000's, he grew up playing games from the SNES, heavily influencing his design philosphy and love for simple gameplay with strong visual environments. Two of his biggest inspirations are "Super Metroid" and "The Legend of Zelda: LTTP". As a fun fact, Sebastian has an unhealthy love for roller coasters.
Yago Mendez
Co-founder • Developer • Artist
Yago is responsible for Yabaseo's UI and various gameplay features. In addition to programming, Yago is Yabaseo's artist, meaning almost all of the game's visuals are his work. He is motivated by the excitement of contributing to a project he's helped build from the ground up. His inspiration for starting game development comes from a strong passion for games and a desire to create meaningful experiences with one of his biggest inspirations being Deltarune, influencing his interest in game design, creativity, and storytelling.
Tiara Azores
Key Art Artist • Visual Media Artist
Tiara is responsible for Yabaseo's promotional artwork, taking the in-game environment and characters and creating illustrations that can encompass the look and feel of the world. Growing up loving movies, she has a keen interest in storytelling, character design, and world-building, especially in some of her favorite works that include "Avatar the Last Airbender," "How To Train Your Dragon," and "Kiki's Delivery Service". Yabaseo being full of the same elements, she looks to do the game justice in the media scene.
Our Story
In 2024, we were tasked with creating a high school senior project in order to graduate with a computer science certification. Wanting to challenge ourselves and create something we were genuinely passionate about, we decided to create a short game demo of what would eventually become Yabaseo. With the help of our Computer Science teacher, we learned the basics of coding in a professional environment.
It wasn't until we had completed the project that we realized how much we enjoyed the process of creating a game and the potential that it had to become a meaningful one. It was then that MaximAce Games was established, a mix of Yago and Sebastian's gamertags, "Maximum47" and "Aceinator", respectively.
